SRA at HEYTESBURY STOCKFEEDS SIMPSON SPEEDWAY.

The Bungador bullring at Heytesbury Stockfeeds Simpson Speedway hosted round 5 of the Distinct ICT Open Sprintcar Series and it was “the Quickest Chicken” Chase Randall who took out a hard-fought victory in front of a full house. Ryan Jones continued his sensational form running second, and Lockie McHugh driving for Domain Ramsay moved forward to take the final podium position.

With an additional $5,000 added to the prizemoney thanks to T&D Wholesale, there was no shortage of action as 39 drivers looked to bank some extra cash on Green Night in support of the Muscular Dystrophy Awareness Warrnambool Gillin Boys Foundation.

Ashley Cook was the highest qualifier, and at the start of the main event sped to the lead and looked to have the pace required to win the race. However, Tate Frost took the lead on lap 13 and was in front until almost two thirds in to the race when Randall made the decisive move.

Josh Buckingham had a great run to finish fourth followed by Cook, Jordy Rae, “the General” Jack Lee, and Brendan Guerin rounding out the top eight. A last-minute decision by young Tasmanian Ethan Wyllie was rewarded with a top 10 result, and he took home the DIRT X IND MotorSports hard charger award moving forward 8 places in the A Main after transferring from the B Main.

Also transferring from the B Main was Chris Solomon, Grant Stansfield, Cam Waters, Brett Milburn and Andrew Hughes.

Heat winners on the night were Lochie McHugh, Ashley Cook, Glen Sutherland, Parker Scott, Andrew Hughes, Jack Lee, Ross Jarred, and Tate Frost.

Terry Rankin dropped a heat and wasn’t able to climb out of the B Main, and as a result there is a new leader in the Distinct ICT Open Sprintcar Series standings. Jordy Rae sits on top from Todd Moule, Terry Rankin and Ashley Cook with only 40 points separating them.

The Distinct ICT Open Sprintcar Series now takes a break until March 2025 when the final two rounds will be held at Avalon Raceway and Premier Speedway, Warrnambool.
